Last week I was very excited to visit Tunnel Hill Mushrooms at Mt Rumney near Mornington, Hobart.
Dean the owner, generously agreed to show me his mushroom business which is in part of the old Railway tunnel that ran the train from Bellerive to Sorell and was built in 1891 with a distance of 165m through the Mt Rumney hill. It ran for 34 years and was closed in 1926.
Tunnel Hill Mushrooms purchased it in 2015 and has used it as their mushroom growing shed. It has a constant temperature of about 12 degrees and humidity of 60% which is a great start for mushroom growing. My creativity juices were seeing it as a Rhuby Restaurant. Lol
